The Building

Our vision for Mountain Lake was to bring the outdoors inside. To create a property that brings people together while maintaining privacy. To showcase the very best of Revelstoke, British Columbia.

Architecture

The building is designed by Dean Thomas Design Group, one of the top architecture firms in North America. One of our main motivations when working with Dean on this project was creating a feeling of being outside when inside the building, making the most of the seclusion and privacy the property offers. We accomplished this by pairing floor-to-ceiling windows with natural features such as timber and stone work throughout the house.

The exterior of the building features a combination of natural features, using extensive wood and stone work to complement the natural features of the acreage. We are particularly proud of the Mountain Modern transitional roof lines, creating a modern yet refined design that blends in with the surrounding property.

Interior Design & Decor

The decor of the house is based on Revelstoke's spectacular natural surroundings, positioned between the Selkirk and Monashee mountain ranges. Local wildlife and landscape elements are featured prominently throughout the house, offering guests from other parts of the world a glimpse into life in British Columbia.

Floor Plan

The floor plan is designed both to bring people together and to offer seclusion and access to and from the private areas of the house.

Single Level Access: Mountain Lake is almost entirely designed as a single-level property, making access as easy as possible from a single floor. Even the basement, which includes the games room, gym, and other amenities, includes a ground-level exit to the side of the building that leads out to the pool area and up to the garage.

Outdoor Access: One of the primary features we worked on with the architect was the ability to access the outside from almost anywhere inside. Depending on what is happening in other areas of the house, guests can access the private areas without having to engage in the communal areas.

The Wings

The building is split into two wings, each with two bedrooms and direct access to the centre of the house. The southern wing features the Master and Guest suites while the northern wing features the Lake and Bunk suites.

Connect or Retreat

At the centre of the house is a large open-plan communal area, known simply as the Great Room. This room is integrated with the dining elements of the house, featuring an alcoved dining area and an open-plan kitchen and breakfast bar, creating several separate areas while remaining connected through the open-plan design. The main entrance leads directly into the centre of the building, and multiple side entrances offer guests and staff access to other areas of the house without disturbing activities in the Great Room.

Bathrooms, toilets and other amenities are located throughout the house, allowing guests to entertain while keeping their bedrooms private. The Boot Room and garage offer ample storage and access to the outside, making Revelstoke's endless adventure activities a pleasure to prepare for and gear down from.
